There will be a runoff for the Republican primary for Hall County Commission District 3.
Murrayville business owner Tyler Crawford will face current Hall County Planning Commissioner Shannon Davidson for the Republican nomination, after no candidate reached the 50 percent threshold needed to avoid a runoff in Tuesday night’s primary election.
Crawford led the voting with 36.5 percent of the vote, while Davidson finished second with 32 percent. Former Hall County Commissioner Steve Gailey finished third with 31.3 percent of the vote, failing to reach the runoff.
The winner will move to the November general election for the District 3 seat, looking to replace current District 3 Commissioner Gregg Poole, who left the seat to run for 9th District U.S. Congress. While no Democratic candidate is running for the seat, there is one independent candidate seeking the office, former Hall County Planning Commissioner Gina Pilcher.
The runoff election will be June 16. District 3 of the Hall County Commission represents the north and east parts of the county.
