Despite a promised increase in base pay for servers to $5.25 per hour, researchers say it is not sufficient due to rising inflation and costs. WABE reports nearly 40% of workers say receiving schedules within a week or less makes it difficult for them to plan childcare and transportation. Additionally, about a third of workers reported experiencing racial discrimination. Norcross based Waffle House employs roughly 9,000 people in Georgia. WABE says Waffle House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

*The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning has launched its annual “Look Again” campaign to raise awareness about pediatric vehicular heatstroke deaths. WSAV reports more than 1,000 children have died in hot cars since 1998, with Georgia ranking 30th in the nation for child deaths caused by vehicular heatstroke. Officials emphasize the importance of checking the back seat before leaving a vehicle to prevent these tragedies.
