Developers resubmit, request to table Sardis Road boat storage project

A development with commercial space and boat and RV storage is coming back up before the Hall County Commission, but it may not be Thursday night.

That is because after a January application withdrawal and a March resubmission, the developers are now requesting a tabling.

The tabling request was made on May 21 in an email to Hall County planning staff to the June 25 meeting.

Houston-based DCCM’s Gainesville branch is the applicant on roughly 26-acres at 2632 East Sardis Road northwest of Gainesville.

They are requesting a rezoning from Residential I (R-1) and Suburban Shopping (S-S) to Highway Business (H-B) along with a special use request for “major outdoor storage.”

The major outdoor storage is to accommodate up to 500 storage spaces for boats and RVs.

Unlike their application nearly six months ago, they have taken off the proposed townhomes and cottage courts but increased the commercial space from 15,000-square-feet to 60,000-square-feet.

Commissioners do not have to accept the tabling, but ample notice was given. The commission meeting is Thursday at the Hall County Government Center.
