UPDATE published on May 27, 2026 @ 1:15 p.m.:

Details on the location of a previously missing 12-year-old girl from Habersham County has been revealed.

According to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, they utilized Flock Safety, a private third-party company with nearly 100,000 cameras across the country that partners with law enforcement.

An onsite investigation determined the girl left with an individual potentially heading to the Georgia Coast.

Once a license plate number was obtained, they entered it into Flock and used cellphone pinging. The vehicle and phone came up in eastern Florida near Daytona Beach.

Habersham Lieutenant Justin Williams used a contact he made at the Daytona Beach Police Department through the annual Police Unity Tour.

“Within 15 minutes, they had the vehicle stopped and had confirmed that the female was safe and the driver was in custody,” Williams said.

Tyler Williamson was arrested and charged at with interstate interference with custody with additional charges possible as the investigation remains ongoing.

Habersham County Sheriff Robin Krockum said this is “what Flock Safety is designed for” and claimed the Flock Automated License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras do not collect personal information.

“This is what Flock Safety is designed for,” Krockum said. “Flock LPR cameras only capture vehicle data and do not collect personal information, facial recognition, or anything tied to individuals. But today a 12-year-old is back safe with her family thanks to our ability to access vehicle information through that system.”

Those comments come as two incidents just in the northeast Georgia region resulted in a Gwinnett County officer and a former Braselton Police Chief got charged for stalking significant others using Flock.

Additionally, a March 2026 debate ensued between residents and city councilors in nearby Dunwoody, Georgia  over claims that Flock employees were accessing feeds into gymnastics and fitness rooms at the Marcus Jewish Community Center there. The city ultimately renewed their $15,000 contract with Flock.

There are nearly 5,000 Flock cameras in the greater Atlanta-metro area, with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Georgia noting that Atlanta is the most surveilled U.S. city in the world.
