The Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) has passed in Hall County.

ESPLOST is a one-penny sales tax used to fund school buildings, safety upgrades, technology, and other long-term capital needs.

As of last check, 59% of voters approved the continuation of the tax, with 27 of the 31 precincts reporting.

The sales tax must be voted on every five years and has been in place since 1997.

In Hall County, funding from the tax is split among the Hall County School District, Gainesville City Schools, and Buford City Schools.
