Suwanee resident Caitlyn Gegen has won the Democratic nomination for Georgia’s 9th Congressional District.
She faced primary opposition in retired banker Nick Alex, who had been campaigning for over a year.
Gegen did not announce her candidacy until February of this year, following it up with a strong showing in the primaries.
Gegen has nearly 60% of the vote with all precincts reporting as of 12:16 a.m. Wednesday.
She will now face Incumbent Republican Andrew Clyde in the Nov. 3 general election.
