Georgia’s 10th Congressional District Democratic Primary has been called.

39-year Army veteran from Henry County Pamela DeLancy has nearly 54% of the vote to 2024 Democratic nominee Lexy Doherty’s 40% as of 12 a.m. Wednesday.

DeLancy, a former health care policy writer for veterans and service members, said District 10 is rural and hospitals are closing in rural areas across the country in an interview back in March of this year.

“One of the main things that we need to start with is Medicaid expansion,” DeLancy said. “We’re taking our taxpayer dollars to provide health care for individuals in these detention centers before we provide health care for the individuals in our community.”

DeLancy will face off against State Representative Houston Gaines, who won the Republican bid Tuesday night, in the Nov. 3 general election.
