A woman is behind bars on murder charges after a person was found dead in southern Gwinnett County Sunday morning.
The Gwinnett County Police Department issued a statement Monday morning, May 25, saying Stephany Byrom, age 48 of Grayson, was arrested on charges including felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault. Those charges stem from the death of Sharell Canty, age 44, also of Grayson.
Canty was found dead by a neighbor at a home on Wilkerson Way near Grayson just before 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, May 24. Investigators said early indicators led them to investigate the case as a domestic homicide.
No other details on the case have been released. Byrom is being held in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
