I’ll tell you one thing, folks. We are not losing a football game today.
But the same can’t be said for everyone across college football. We’re at that point in the season where big conference games are popping up here and there and competitive football is all over your television/streaming dial.
This week’s early slate is highlighted by an actual top 20 nooner, as #17 Texas Tech heads to #16 Utah for Big Nude Noon Saturday on Fox.
Over on ABC Arkansas travels to Memphis for a noon tilt with the Memphis Tigers, which seems like a truly ill-considered decision for an SEC football coach like Sam Pittman who’s employed but not super-duper securely employed, if you catch my drift.
That one will be followed on ABC at 3:30 by #22 Auburn traveling to #11 Oklahoma, with Jackson Arnold making his….triumphant?…return to Norman in the only way one can truly signal that he’s moved on, turned over a new leaf, and made a new start in life: by hanging out with the Reverend Hugh Freeze.
The 3:30 time slot also includes a potentially sneaky entertaining tilt between the Tulane Green Wave and Ole Miss Rebels (ESPN). This one is my favorite seasonal variety of potential upset, the kind where fans of the big time football school (Ole Miss) believe they have absolutely no business losing to the upstart. However anyone who has watched the upstart Green Wave this season knows that the Rebels had better watch their backs, because the boys from New Orleans are liable to fry you like a beignet and then dust your butt with powdered sugar before taking a French Quarter-sized bite out of it.
So pull up a chair and enjoy an afternoon of everyone but us worrying about the scoreboard. We’ll be here all day to shoot the breeze, talk a little smack, and generally enjoy ourselves.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
