The GBI is reportedly investigating an officer-involved-shooting that occurred Monday night on I-985. Few details are known at this time, but it shut down the northbound exit ramp at Exit 12 (Spout Springs Road) for several hours.
First official word of the incident came when the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) issued a Traffic Alert about 10:00 saying “the northbound I-985 off-ramp at exit 12 is presently closed due to an ongoing investigation.”
In a social media posting, Flowery Branch Police noted “Interstate 985 northbound exit ramp at exit 12 will be closed for an extended period while officers assist the Georgia State Patrol with an investigation.”
Witnesses, via social media, reported seeing numerous law enforcement vehicles at that location, with at least one noting that police tape was visible. One reported that the ramp was still closed at 2:30 this morning.
