KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Playing in just his second Korn Ferry event of the season, Gainesville’s Spencer Ralston is off to a solid start to the Visit Knoxville Open on Thursday.
The former Georgia Bulldog and Gainesville High standout fired a 3-under par 68 on his opening round at Holston Hills Country Club, which was three shots off the lead held by seven players. More than three dozen players were still playing when Ralston completed his first round.
Ralston chewed up the front-9 of the Par 71 course, birdieing the Par 4 3rd and Par 5 7th, sandwiched around an eagle on the Par 5 5th to sit at 4-under. He parred seven straight holes after the seventh until posting his only bogey of the round on the Par 4 15th.
He will tee off at 1:03 p.m. on Friday to begin his second round as he tries to make his first cut of the season.
