
The state Department of Transportation (GDOT) will start work on a pavement preservation project on State Route 59 in Jackson and Banks counties June 15.
The project will include approximately 7.28 miles of asphalt resurfacing and two-foot shoulder widening. Work will begin at the intersection of SR 15/US 441 in Jackson County and continue north through Banks County to the Banks/Franklin County line.
Motorists should expect daily single-lane closures in the project corridor. Traffic control measures will be in place to guide drivers through the work zone.
