MARTA rail service suspended at Oakland City amid police activity

A police investigation has forced transit officials to temporarily suspend all rail service at the Oakland City MARTA station in Atlanta on Saturday.

Transit officials announced that normal rail operations were halted just before noon on Saturday.

To minimize disruptions, bus shuttle service is being provided to move passengers between the Lakewood, Oakland City, and West End stations. Commuters utilizing the Lakewood station should note that northbound trains are currently boarding on the southbound side.

Authorities have not yet confirmed what specific law enforcement issue prompted the emergency response or how long the rail suspension will last.
