A vote to potentially annex thousands of properties in unincorporated Gwinnett County into the City of Lawrenceville failed during Tuesday night’s primary elections.
The city was proposing to annex several properties, but 54 percent of the voters in the affected areas voted against that annexation.
Lawrenceville Mayor David Still issued a statement Wednesday morning in the aftermath of the vote.
“We appreciate everyone who took time to participate in this process and stay informed throughout the public information effort,” Still said. “Our commitment to serving residents and building Lawrenceville’s future remains unchanged.”
Properties in the proposed annexation area will now remain under their existing jurisdiction.
