Gainesville resident and community organizer Michelle “Michi” Sanchez has advanced to a runoff to vie for the Democratic nomination for Georgia.
She will face Atlanta-based former public school teacher Nikki Porcher, who founded and runs the national non-profit Buy From A Black Woman.
Porcher led the field with 310,559 votes, amassing 30.78% of the total. Sanchez received 260,928 votes, getting 25.86% of the total.
The runoff will be June 16. The winner will face Governor Brian Kemp appointee and Incumbent Republican Bárbara Rivera Holmes in the Nov. 3 general election.
