A Hoschton man remains in the Hall County Jail without bond following an investigation into a domestic violence case.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were called to a scene outside of a convenience store at around 2 a.m. Tuesday on Gillsville Highway.

At the scene, authorities spoke to a woman who had been threatened by Cameron Jonathan Bonker, 36.

An initial investigation determined the victim, with the help of friends, had escaped a residence on Outer Circle when Bonker reportedly threatened her with violence. As the victim was trying to exit the residence, Bonker allegedly held a knife toward the victim and threatened to “slit her throat.”

HCSO said she was able to leave without suffering any physical injury.

Deputies obtained a warrant for felony aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act (FVA). Bonker was not at the residence when deputies first tried to locate him, but HCSO Warrant Service Unit deputies found him at the house later in the day and took him into custody.

Upon further investigation, deputies discovered that Bonker had an outstanding arrest warrant for terroristic threats for an unrelated incident reported on Sept. 13. In that case, he is accused of threatening to physically assault a man who purchased a vehicle from him. The threats were made via text message, HCSO said.
