As significant upgrades are underway at three campuses in the Hall County School District, school officials provided updates on the projects at Monday’s Board of Education meeting.

The renovations include updates to North Hall High School,  a new campus for World Language Academy’s elementary school, and improvements to Flowery Branch Elementary School’s car rider line.

North Hall High School

Renovations to North Hall High School include a three-story addition to the existing building and replacement of the school’s auxiliary gym.

Matt Cox, Executive Director of Facilities & Construction, said during the meeting that many of the larger parts of the project are complete.

“We have completed the three-story addition, and we’re now working on renovations,” he said. “The renovation work that we’ve been able to move ahead with at this point is the former administrative area that will become a counseling suite, so they’re working in that area in preparation.”

Cox also said that work will continue once students leave for summer break by the end of this week.

“As soon as we get the kids out of the building, we’ll work into the remainder of the renovation areas, which include the student restrooms,  the clinic, the corridor that cuts through back to the bus drop off area, family consumer science lab renovation, engineering lab renovation, and we’ll actually be adding an additional set of restrooms near the cafeteria on the back hall,” Cox said.

The project will also now connect the two buildings on campus,  meaning students will no longer have to travel outside to get to classes.

World Language Academy

World Language Academy’s Elementary School campus was completely demolished at the end of the 2024-25 school year to build a brand-new campus in its place.

Construction is underway on the two-story replacement school, which is expected to be completed by the start of the 2027-2028 school year.  As the project continues,  the school has temporarily moved into the former Oakwood Elementary School campus.

Cox said the construction is “well on schedule.”

“You see the building beginning to take [on] its look,”  Cox said.  “We have the brick going on…getting some of the windows in, and that sort of thing, so it’s beginning to look more and more like a school.”

Flowery Branch Elementary School

While no interior renovations will be coming to Flowery Branch Elementary School, HCSD is working to improve the school’s car rider line. The renovation is a summer project, though crews began working on the improvements over the system’s spring break.

”We’re beginning to work also now on the expanded car rider line, and again, as we move into summer, we’ll begin to get into some of the other work in the front of the building, but this is moving along very well,” Cox said.
