The Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) is searching for a suspect in connection with a fraud investigation.
According to police, 33-year-old Anthony Sherlock met with a victim in Lilburn on Sept. 5 to purchase a 2016 Audi through Facebook Marketplace.
Sherlock allegedly met with the victim two days prior at a RaceTrac on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Duluth to inspect the vehicle.
The meeting to purchase the vehicle was at the Chase bank on Lawrenceville Highway in Lilburn, when Sherlock allegedly presented a fraudulent cashier’s check of $13,999.
The financial institution determined the check was altered and the funds were not released to the victim.
Sherlock is described as a Black male, roughly 5-feet, 9-inches tall weighing around 155-pounds.
The victim reportedly tried to contact Sherlock, but he was blocked on messages and Facebook.
