The Gainesville City Board of Education voted Monday night to hire David Wagner as the next principal of Gainesville High School (GHS.)
Wagner is currently the principal of North Hall Middle School in the Hall County School District, a position he has held since 2023. Prior to that, he worked at Flowery Branch High School as a teacher and coach, and then at West Hall High School, where he served as assistant principal and athletic director.
Wagner will replace current GHS Principal Roberto Rivera, who is retiring. Wagner’s first day as GHS Principal will be July 1.
Wagner was approved by the board of education at its meeting on Monday, May 18.
