First Half Open Thread: Anxiety= Opportunity

We are mere moments away from kickoff in Sanford Stadium, in a game which feels like more of a measuring stick than the average matchup with a #17 ranked opponent. Alabama has long been the hobgoblin that haunts Bulldog fans’ dreams. The closest analog I can think of may be Phil Fulmer’s Tennessee teams in the late 90s.

It felt at times as if the universe just did not want Georgia to beat those Tennessee teams. Until, the universe decided that we had suffered enough. Tennessee has never reclaimed that rivalry following the Dawgs’ field–storming victory in Sanford Stadium in the year 2000. This feels like a chance to once and for all put a bow on Nick Saban‘s decades long torture of Bulldog football fans during his Tide tenure. A chance to say that those days have passed and a new era has begun. Bulldog fans are well familiar with Kirby Smart’s adage that “pressure is a privilege”. To that I would add that “if you’re anxious, it’s probably because you sense opportunity.”

It’s time for Georgia to seize the opportunity and serve notice that the road to the SEC title runs through Athens.

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
