Drug trafficking organization in Stephens Co. busted, leads to 20 arrests

A search warrant and drug seizure operation in Stephens County led to the arrest of 14 Stephens County residents, three Habersham County residents, two Atlanta residents, and one Banks County resident.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), they and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), as well as five local law enforcement agencies conducted the arrests after a more than 12-month long investigation.

The investigation was looking into a drug trafficking organization directed by 48-year-old Manathan Colbert of Toccoa.

He was arrested and charged with 19 crimes including:

  • Three counts of violation of Racketeer-Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act
  • Trafficking cocaine
  • Illegal use of communication facility
  • Eight counts of Violation of the Georgia Street Gang and Terrorism Prevention Act
  • Sale of schedule II controlled substance
  • Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
  • Three counts of sale of cocaine
  • Sale of marijuana

The other 19 people arrested included:

Stephens County arrests

  • 23-year-old Ansley Dae Smith of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act and three counts of illegal use of communication facility
  • 26-year-old Javier Hernandez-Duarte of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act, possession of cocaine, and illegal use of communication facility
  • 25-year-old Mackenzie Lea Sessoms of Eastanollee: three counts of violation of RICO Act and two counts of illegal use of communication facility
  • 35-year-old Terrance Rashaud Fortson of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act, three counts of illegal use of communication facility, and three counts of Violation of the Georgia Street Gang and Terrorism Prevention Act
  • 35-year-old Daniel Amir Glasco of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act, two counts of illegal use of communication facility, and two counts of Violation of the Georgia Street Gang and Terrorism Prevention Act
  • 41-year-old Allen Johann Curry of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act, three counts of illegal use of communication facility, and trafficking cocaine
  • 42-year-old Amanda Michelle Murray of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and five counts of illegal use of communication facility
  • 42-year-old Kerry Rebeccah Sheriff of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act, two counts of illegal use of communication facility, and possession of marijuana
  • 43-year-old Charles Nicholas Cash of Toccoa: one count of violation of RICO Act and two counts of illegal use of communication facility
  • 44-year-old Mario Chanteze Lacy of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act and three counts of illegal use of communication facility
  • 47-year-old Joel Lorenzo Jackson of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act and three counts of illegal use of communication facility
  • 48-year-old Marvin Junior Teasley of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act, two counts of illegal use of communication facility, and possession of cocaine
  • 56-year-old Vernard Durham of Toccoa: three counts of violation of RICO Act, five counts of illegal use of communication facility, and trafficking cocaine

Habersham County arrests

  • 46-year-old Elizabeth Ann Hill of Demorest: possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • 53-year-old Steven Eugene Jones of Mount Airy: illegal use of communication facility
  • 60-year-old Deborah Lee Hancock of Clarkesville: three counts of violation of RICO Act, two counts of illegal use of communication facility, and possession of cocaine

Atlanta arrests

  • 23-year-old Nigel Abraham Sillah of Atlanta: possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
  • 24-year-old Malik Isaiah Sillah of Atlanta: possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

Banks County arrest

  • 46-year-old Musa Sullah of Banks County: three counts of violation of RICO Act and six counts of illegal use of communication facility

That makes 122 charges between the 20 arrested.

The GBI says the organization is responsible for trafficking cocaine, crack cocaine, pills, and marijuana throughout Stephens, Habersham, and Rabun Counties.

29-pounds of marijuana, five-ounces of cocaine, six-grams of crack cocaine, 45 in-box pills, 19 oxycodone pills, and 59 firearms have been seized to date.

The GBI said that the investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
