Gainesville gas prices this week a a couple of cents less than a week ago, according to AAA. Last Monday, the average price for a gallon was $4.12; this week it’s $3.99.
The average price statewide this week is an even four dollars. That’s a nickel less than it was a week ago. And the national average $4.53 is two cents higher than last Monday.
But with crude oil prices hovering in the $100/barrel range, pump prices remain elevated. The national average is at the same range as it was in 2022, the year gas prices hit record highs.
AAA notes that travelers will soon be hitting the road for Memorial Day weekend and will be facing the highest Memorial Day gas prices in four years.
