The Georgia Department of Transportation said Tuesday that utility work associated with the SR 441 Phase 2 widening project in Rabun County is ongoing.

Georgia Power Transmission began work at Pinnacle Road and Claybourne Street on Dec. 1, installing new power poles and running new overhead transmission lines. The work will continue through Thursday, Dec. 11, weather permitting.

GDOT said the presence of heavy equipment will require intermittent traffic disruptions in the immediate area of the two roadways. The department said drivers should expect occasional stopped traffic, slower movement through the work zone and flagging operations directing vehicles as needed.

Additionally, GDOT urged motorists to use caution in the area as work continues.
