A 43-year-old woman was jailed this week on 12 charges, including three counts of Serious Injury by Vehicle, following a wreck three months ago.

The state patrol says the filing of charges was delayed pending a Georgia Crime Lab report.

STATE PATROL INVESTIGATING TROOPER’S NARRATIVE:

“On September 23rd, 2025, at approximately 0718 hours, I was dispatched to a traffic crash on SR 11 (Cleveland Highway) near Jim Hood Dr, in Hall County.

After an investigation, it was determined that the driver of a 2006 Gray Ford Focus…failed to yield while turning left at the intersection, causing a 3 vehicle collision. The driver was identified as a Susan Adam with a DOB of /1982. The driver’s seat belt was locked to the B pillar, indicating the seat belt was not worn at the time of the crash.

The 6 year old passenger in the right rear of the vehicle was buckled up, with no child safety seat. After the collision, Mrs. Adam was unsteady on her feet and had a difficult time balancing. Mrs. Adam’s eyes were watery. While attempting to identify Mrs. Adam’s children involved in the crash, Mrs. Adam had a difficult time remembering the dates of birth of her children and seemed withdrawn.

When asked about how the crash occurred, Mrs. Adam stated she was either using the radio or was reaching over to one of the children in the vehicle. I asked Mrs. Adam what kind of medications she takes, to which she stated she took 0.5 mgs of (redacted) the night prior and normally takes (redacted) and (redacted) medications.

Mrs. Adam and her children were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville due to injuries from the crash..

I went to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville to speak with Mrs. Adam more about the crash. While at the hospital, family members stated to me that she had sent them unusual text messages the night prior and stated that she had abused pill usage before.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, I believed Mrs. Adam could possibly been impaired at the time of the crash. I obtained warrants for blood that was drawn from Mrs. Adams at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. After the blood was obtained, it was sent to the GBI Crime Lab for testing. On 12/2/2025, the GBI completed a toxicology screening of the blood, which showed positive for (redacted).

Warrants were taken for DUI and several other traffic and  related charges. I contacted Mrs. Adam and informed her she was being charged with DUI and other traffic related charges, and instructed her to turn herself in at the Hall County Jail.”

Seven people were injured in the crash.

Mrs. Adam was still in jail Tuesday afternoon. She is being held without bond.
