Changes in weather conditions are arriving in northeast Georgia during the next 12 to 36 hours, with blustery winds and potential for below-freezing temperatures heading into Monday evening and overnight.
The National Weather Service (NWS) out of Peachtree City, Georgia has issued a Winter Freeze Warning through 10:00 a.m. Monday, and during the evening Monday into early Tuesday morning.
A late Sunday evening update from NWS says all of north and central Georgia will experience freezing temperatures Monday night and Tuesday morning. Low temperatures in the 20’s are expected statewide Tuesday morning. Additionally, the risk for accumulating snowfall in the northeast Georgia mountains is increasing. Minor travel impacts due to accumulations on roadways and bridges could possibly develop between 2 PM and 10 PM on Monday. Snow is not expected across the rest of the state. The NWS update late Sunday indicates:
- Light snow accumulations (trace to 1″) are possible across north Georgia between 2 PM and 10 PM Monday, and locally higher amounts may occur above 2000 ft.
- Widespread freezing temperatures (22 to 28 degrees) will occur Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Wind chills in will be in the 15-to-25-degree range Tuesday morning.
- Gusty winds (25 to 35 mph) are expected in north and central Georgia through 8 PM Monday.
