Winning Smart Victory Post #112

Some number of months ago, Podunk’s youngest (Podunkpup) warned me that he would be in Georgia to help his (step)sister celebrate her nuptials. At the time, I asked if he would be able to stay for the WLOCP, and then he said he would not, as his employer would require his presence back in Oklahoma too early.

But time and circumstance have a way of changing. Podunkpup found himself on the receiving end of a better job offer. Prior to accepting, he made sure to have time allotted to remain in Georgia through the game prior to heading home.

We discussed attending the game in person, but good seats were out of our budget, and Podunkpup insisted he would NOT sit in nosebleed seats, so we agreed to watch the game together at my house.

It has been a couple of years since I saw Pup in person, and he looks ever so much better now than he did then. He was a bit late, but I have TiVo, so we were able to watch the game in its entirety, without having to suffer through commercials. I bought hot wings from Publix, and Mr. Squillian made what I have proclaimed to be the best ribs he’s EVER made. We were loud, proud and a good time was had by all. Podunkdawg was invoked several times during the game. Whether that had any bearing on the outcome of the game remains unknown on this side of heaven.

However, it is our intention to celebrate Georgia Bulldog Football Wins whenever and wherever they occur. The ugliness or beauty of any particular win is irrelevant for the purposes of the Winning Smart Victory Post. It is therefore my deepest honor and privilege to bring to you this week’s edition of: The Winning Smart Victory Post.

Coach Kirby Smart coached his 132nd game this week for the Red & Black. He currently boasts a 112-20 record and a 0.8485 winning percentage, having carded his one hundred twelfth win overall in the eighth game of the 2025 season against the Lake City Lizards.

At the identical juncture in their careers:

Vince Dooley’s 132nd game as head coach resulted in a Georgia Bulldogs win over Florida in the ninth game of the 1975 season, giving Coach Dooley a record of 89-39-5 and 0.6932 percentage.

Coach Mark Richt was 98-34 (0.7424) after a loss to Florida in the ninth game of the 2010 season.

One hundred and thirty two games into his head coaching career Kirby Smart is fourteen games ahead of Coach Mark Richt and ahead of Coach Vince Dooley by 23 games. As of now, he is holding his own versus the two winningest coaches in Georgia Football History.

As always . . .

Go ‘Dawgs !!!!
