Fire crews in White County responded to three fires in the past 24 hours.
According to a release from White County Public Safety, the first fire was a residential fire, which occurred on Monday at 6:45 p.m.
Crews responded to the home on Hamilton Drive in Cleveland to find a fire that originated in the bathroom of the residence.
First-arriving units quickly located and safely removed an immobile occupant from the residence before initiating an aggressive interior attack on the fire, which had extended into the attic. Fire personnel successfully contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading further throughout the home.
Crews cleared the scene shortly after 8 p.m. No injuries have been reported at this time.
A second residential fire occurred at 8 a.m. Tuesday on Fieldstone Road in Cleveland.
WCPS said the caller reported smoke and a possible fire in the wall of a two-story residence.
First-arriving firefighters observed smoke coming from the backside of the home and confirmed fire extension within the wall. Crews quickly conducted an interior attack, successfully containing and extinguishing the fire.
No injuries were reported. Fire operations transitioned to ensuring the fire was fully extinguished and that there were no further extensions before concluding around 9:15 a.m.
Additionally, crews responded to a commercial fire on Brooks Street in Cleveland at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday.
Upon arrival, crews located a detached HVAC unit on fire adjacent to the building.
Firefighters acted quickly to contain and extinguish the flames, preventing the fire from extending to the structure.
No injuries were reported, and units cleared the scene shortly after.
“In the past 24 hours, Fire personnel have responded to three separate fire incidents across the county,” WCPS said in a release. “In each case, quick action and coordinated response prevented what could have been far more serious outcomes. White County Public Safety commends the dedication and professionalism of all responding firefighters, both career and volunteer, and thanks our public safety partners for their continued commitment to protecting our community.”
The department also reminded residents to be mindful of potential fire hazards moving into the colder weather season.
“As we move into the colder months, residents are encouraged to remain mindful of fire hazards in and around the home,” WCPS said. “Heating equipment, fireplaces, and space heaters should be inspected and used safely, and working smoke alarms should be tested regularly. Taking simple precautions now can help prevent fires and save lives during the winter season.”
