*(SRN NEWS/AP) – The FBI relied on years-old claims about the 2020 presidential election, many of which had been thoroughly investigated and found to have no connection to widespread fraud, to obtain a search warrant for seizing ballots from election offices in Fulton County, according to an affidavit unsealed Tuesday. It shows the case began with a referral from an administration official who tried to help President Trump overturn his election loss. The affidavit provides the first public justification for an FBI search last month

*A woman was shot and killed outside Palmetto Elementary School in Atlanta Tuesday afternoon. Kids at the school were bused to another school as a safety precaution. A short time later police arrested suspect Christopher Ates after a brief chase ended in a crash in Houston County. The name of the victim has not been released as of late Tuesday.

*Property managers in Georgia are increasingly denying rental applications, often due to a lack of cosigners rather than affordability. A new platform called “Cosign,” founded in 2025 by Zach Schofel, serves as a third-party guarantor to help renters with income issues and credit problems. WALB-TV reports the platform helps property managers and owners approve more renters safely without increasing risk.

*The Atlanta Track Club announces registration for the Peachtree Road Race will open in March. Registration for Northside Hospital Employees and charity event runners opens March 18th. Atlanta Track Club members have guaranteed entry and can sign up April 1. Non-members will have to enter the lottery, which also opens April 1st. This year July 4th falls on a Saturday. The 10k starts at Lennox Square Mall and ends at Piedmont Park.  Northside Hospital is the race’s new sponsor. After ending its print editions, the AJC pulled out as sponsor.
