Here’s what transpired on Friday night, which marked Week Ten.

#4 North Hall 35, Lumpkin County 12

The Trojans remained unbeaten with a 35-12 win over Lumpkin, getting within a win of back-to-back region titles. Carlton added a rushing TD, and the home team was up 21-0 after a scoreless first. Nolan Matthews had a 40-yd TD, and Mason Hester added an 11-yd TD to Martin Hulsey late.

Oglethorpe County 24, Commerce 14

The Tigers’ losing skid hits eight in a row with a 24-14 defeat to Oglethorpe County, who is suddenly appearing to be a legit contender. Ty Sorrells scored a TD for Commerce in the second to get within 14-7, and it was 17-7 at the break. Tate Kirk connected with Essien Lockleer for a TD to get to a 17-14 score in the third, but OC would score another while buckling down from there.

Dawson County 42, Chestatee 14

It was a huge win for Dawson County of 42-14 over Chestatee in a game that was going to eliminate one of these teams from playoff contention. The Tigers got about 150 yards rushing from Cody McBrayer.

The Leopards held a 19-6 halftime lead, but Providence Christian went on a second half run and intercepted at the end to seal the game.

Union County 19, Coahulla Creek 10

Who would’ve thunk it…without star QB Kamden Kendrick as the latest injury for Union, the Panthers still pulled out the 19-10 win over Coahulla Creek. Chetley Cox filled in under center, and got a TD to Mikey Davis in the first. Union was down 10-6 going into the final quarter. Cox scored a go-ahead TD with 8:28 to go in the game on a 1-yd plunge.
