The victim whose body was found in the trunk of a car parked outside of a Sam’s Club store in Oakwood has been confirmed to have been a 4-year-old girl from White County.
An incident report obtained by AccessWDUN through an Open Records Request with the Oakwood Police Department said officers found the child’s body in the trunk of a red 2016 Nissan Sentra in the parking lot on Mundy Mill Road. Officers were first called to the scene at 3:22 p.m. on Sunday, October 26.
“The information being received was that a mother had contacted family members about some type of injury involving her child,” the narrative from the incident report said.
Jessica Maria Motes, age 36 of Cleveland, was later arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and booked into the Hall County Jail on a charge of concealing a death. The GBI is investigating the case and has not released any information regarding the investigation as of Friday, October 31.
Information from the incident report indicates that Motes and the victim lived at the same residence on Lothridge Road in Cleveland.

More details have been revealed about the Hall County woman arrested for concealing a death.
According to the arrest warrant obtained by AccessWDUN, 36-year-old Jessica Maria Motes was seen by her father driving into the Sam’s Club parking lot in Oakwood.
She allegedly told her father she hurt the victim and that “I think she is dead” according to the warrant.
Her father then drove her away from the parking lot and encountered law enforcement.
The victim’s remains were found in the trunk of her Nissan sedan.
The investigation culminated in agents searching at a home on Couch Road off of G.C. Crow Road in Flowery Branch late Sunday evening.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) took over the case, and no other details are available at this time.
She remains in the Hall County Jail without bond on a felony count of concealing a death.
