STATE PATROL NARRATIVE (EDITED FOR CLARITY AND BREVITY:
“On Monday…Troopers were requested to investigate a traffic crash at the intersection of Northside Dr/Main St and W Academy St.
During the investigation, it was determined that…a landscaping truck, driven by Demarco D Goss, 21, of Gainesville, was traveling south on Northside Dr and stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of W Academy St. An (SUV), driven by Jennifer Ann Mize, 38 of Dahlonega, was traveling west on W Academy St, approaching the intersection of Northside Dr/Main St. Mr. Goss was attempting to turn left and proceed east on W Academy St.
(He) entered the path of the (SUV), causing (his truck) to travel off of the roadway and strike a streetlight and a stop sign before striking the brick wall of the entrance to the parking deck located at 130 Main St. (It) then struck a power transformer box and attached power meters before coming to an uncontrolled rest.
There were no injuries reported and Mr. Goss was cited for Failure to Yield after Stopping at a Stop Sign.”
ORIGINAL STORY. POSTED 4:30 P.M. MONDAY:
landscaping truck struck an electrical transformer in downtown Gainesville Monday afternoon.
Witnesses said it happened at the parking deck next to the library.
Thus far there has been no word on what caused the accident or if there were any injuries. Messages have been left with Gainesville Police and the state patrol.
