It’s out with the old and in with the new for Fast & Furious attractions at the Universal Orlando Resort.

On Tuesday, Jan. 20, park officials announced a brand new, high-speed roller coaster coming to Universal Studios Florida in 2027.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is set to “put guests in the driver seat of the high-speed thrills of Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious universe like never before,” according to a press release. Guests will experience the sensation of 360-degree drifting along the ride’s intense dips and hills  — including the 170-foot vertical “spike” that sends riders nearly 17 stories in the air over top the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.

The new ride shares a name with the future west-coast iteration of the attraction, set to open at Universal Studios Hollywood later this year. Both coasters will place guests inside ride vehicles modeled after cars from the film franchise.

As it prepares to welcome the new, high-profile attraction, the Orlando park will close its previous ride based on the global phenomenon: Fast & Furious: Supercharged.

Fast and Furious: Supercharged first opened at Universal Studios Florida in 2018. The screen-based ride takes guests through the plot of the first film. After boarding the buses at Sullivan’s garage, guests are then pursued by the FBI and Owen Shaw (Luke Evans).

“Step into an amazing recreation of the crew’s headquarters filled with actual movie props and supercharged vehicles you’ve only seen on the big screen,” the park’s website says. “Ride along with Dom, Letty, Hobbs and Roman on a street chase in the middle of the high-octane world of the Fast & Furious blockbuster films.”

Supercharged in Orlando opened as a standalone ride, but Universal Studios Hollywood operated a smaller segment of the attraction as part of the Studio Tour tram ride. That portion permanently closed in 2025 as construction on its Hollywood Drift coaster ramped up.

While a specific closing date has not been announced, the park said Supercharged will close in 2027.

The new ride will fill the space previously occupied by the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster. That attraction closed permanently on Aug. 17, 2025, after almost 16 years operating in the park. The steel coaster stood at 161 feet tall and 3,200 feet long and opened as the largest X-car model coaster by the German manufacturer Maurer Sohne in existence.
