The BLITZ Baseball Players of the Week are Judd Schmakel (Banks), Landry Boling (Jefferson), and Lucas Machado (Habersham). Schmakel won the Fan Vote with 23,267 of the 48,679 total votes. Boling and Machado were the BLITZ Picks.
JUDD SCHMAKEL – BANKS COUNTY
Banks County junior Judd Schmakel had a great stat line through three games for the Leopards. The infielder hit .667 (six hits), knocking in four runs while collecting two doubles, three stolen bases, and three walks. This is his first POW award.
LANDRY BOLING – JEFFERSON
Dragons freshman phenom Landry Boling is at it again. For the second time this year, he earns POW honors. This time, the outfielder hit .444 with two round-trippers, six RBI, six runs, and three stolen bases.
LUCAS MACHADO – HABERSHAM CENTRAL
With a last name Machado, Lucas was already hyped up to be a good baseball player. The Habersham Central junior infielder/pitcher batted .571 for the Raiders last week. He had three RBI and also was 1-0 with a spotless 0.00 ERA, striking out 10 in just five innings of work. This is his first POW award.
