Tuesday ‘Dawg Bites is In Tatters, But Does It Matter?

Welcome to Tuesday, Bulldog fans! Our team is not undefeated, does not have a current winning streak in Sanford, and recognizes that Alabama is our bugaboo. Our fanbase is in tatters, lamenting slow starts, pulling hair over goal line decisions, and looking for a coaching staff sacrifice. Most of us don’t have the kind of pull to influence any change in Butts-Mehre or Athens in general, so venting is the order of the day. I’m just as upset, or almost as upset, as the rest of you after Saturday night. So much so that as Jam Miller secured the game-clinching first down, I shamefully admit I blurted “Shadoobie!” to no one in particular. But does it matter? Ladies & Gentlemen… The Rolling Stones!

Now onto news and notes of the Georgia Bulldog variety:

Kirby Smart was pretty upbeat in his weekly Monday press conference. In summary, the OL is growing up, the infrastructure is built to sustain losses, love on the players who made mistakes, and he learned a lot about this Georgia team, who is hurting (hopefully just emotionally). If you wanted a deep dive on the 4th and 1 tempo call, I’m sorry this won’t be the response you were probably looking for.

I’m reminded of this old Dawg Sports adage. “Georgia Bulldogs: providing everyone’s signature win since 2008.”

Before we turn to Kentucky, one last look at Saturday Night’s Wristband of Woe. For that, we turn to the weekly position group grading by The Red & Black. Moving my way through the article, I thought it a tad tough. That is until I got to the defensive review. Glad these folks didn’t grade my mid-terms.

We just lost to Kentucky. The Wildcats Volleyball team blanked the Bulldogs in Lexington Friday. Here’s hoping the correlation to a home football game is weak. Considering UK Volleyball is the #3 team in the country, and the football team is not, gives me a little less Munson.

I’ll have to check with Killian to see if a high level position has just been vacated in Athens, but at least we have options. A former Bulldog assistant with a history of OL recruiting and development might be looking for his next opportunity. Yessir!!!

An anemic Auburn offense, a Bulldog team dropping in the polls, and a media company focused on maximizing profit. Add those 3 ingredients together and the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry has entered flex territory. We know it’s a night game, but we aren’t certain of the start time or the broadcast network. My, how I yearn for Verne.

The fine folks over at Saturday Down South didn’t pay as much attention to the AP Poll as some. They still have Georgia as one of the best teams in the SEC.

In the “wouldn’t be more surprised if I woke up with my head sown to the carpet”, this announcement of a potential Senate candidacy.

The collective Bulldog nation may feel like we’re in tatters, and shattered, but if New York City can turnaround from that apt description of late 1970’s Big Apple, I think this Georgia Bulldog team can too. Let us know in the comments any news you’re hearing, have a great day, and as always…

GO ‘DAWGS!!!
