Ty’Quavious Richmond, Patrick Montgomery, Jr., and Dereon Montgomery were sentenced for the 2024 shooting death of 16-year-old Dennie Henderson outside the Springhill Suites on Whittlesey Blvd.

Richmond, Montgomery, Jr., and Montgomery each received life with the possibility of parole, plus five additional years for Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. The verdict came on October 3, 2025, when a Muscogee County jury found all three guilty of Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.

On March 24, 2024, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the parking lot of the Springhill Suites. Henderson was found deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. During the course of the investigation, detectives determined that Richmond, Montgomery, Jr., and Montgomery acted together in the events that led to the shooting.
Evidence collected by investigators confirmed the presence and involvement of all three defendants.

A warrant was issued for Ty’Quavious Richmond on May 15, 2024. He was taken into custody the next day. On September 17, 2024, Patrick Montgomery, Jr. and Dereon Montgomery were arrested in Lee County, Alabama, and extradited to Columbus on September 18, 2024.

The Violent Crimes Unit led the case, supported by the Digital Forensics Unit and the Real Time Crime Center.
