Three score a dozen for White County as Lady Warriors win top-10 matchup at Rabun [VIDEO]

#8-ranked White County (2-0) edged out #3 Rabun County (1-1), 52-43 on Tuesday in Tiger. The Lady Warriors had three players record a dozen points. The game was tight throughout, with White County taking a 13-point lead in the second half before the Lady Wildcats stormed back to within five.

The teams traded buckets through much of the first, though White County went on a 4-0 run early to take a 7-4 lead and force a Rabun timeout. Conley Spivey had five points in the opening quarter for the Lady Cats, while Aslyn Burkett (seven) and Zara Gosee (six) did the heavy lifting for White.

After a 20-16 first quarter in favor of White County, the Lady Warriors pulled ahead with a 9-0 run following a 3-pointer by Rabun’s Millie Southards to make it a 20-19 game at the time. By the half, the visitors were up 31-21. Both teams were in early foul trouble, which impacted both sides early on.

Burkett had a 3-point play to push the lead up to 13 during the third, and Anijah Moss hit on several shots to pad the lead. Rabun County chipped away in the final stanza, getting within five late before Josselyn Burke’s 3-point play cemented the final.

Moss, Burkett, and Gosse each had 12 points for White County, while Burke had eight, Ella Kate Shedd six, and two by Matelyn Allison. Rabun County was led in scoring by Adelyn Thompson and Southards, both of whom had nine points. Spivey and Madison Houck each had seven, Addy Beth Owens had five, Jaydynn Cohee four, and Loren Mazarky two.
