NEED TO KNOW
- Five stars of The Traitors season 4 are giving PEOPLE the inside scoop on what went down in the castle behind the scenes, including what they ate at breakfast
- The players got highly competitive over one breakfast item in particular
- The stars also discuss doing their own glam for the show
The Traitors had a side mission not seen on screen.
In PEOPLE’s digital cover, season 4 stars Candiace Dillard Bassett (The Real Housewives of Potomac) and Monét X Change (RuPaul’s Drag Race) say the players got competitive over breakfast.
“I was eating the salmon and the eggs, the chocolate croissants,” Candiace says of their breakfast choices in the castle, as Monét adds that “the salmon was so good but here’s the thing: everybody liked the salmon. It was a struggle to get the salmon.”
“It was only like two pieces for all 20 of us,” Candiace, 39, continues. “If you were last at breakfast, you got no salmon.”
In the event you were late, Monét, 35, agrees that “you got some orange juice and a coffee and called it a day.”
Along with Candiace and Monét, PEOPLE’s digital cover also features their fellow breakouts Rob Cesternino (Survivor), 47, Stephen Colletti (Laguna Beach), 39, and Tara Lipinski (figure skater), 43. Candiace says that at breakfast, she’d often be “contouring Tara while having an egg in one hand.”
“Candiace was like my makeup artist,” Tara says, as Candiace makes it known that “she, me and her was the glam” on the show.
“You’re getting up super early to do everything,” Candiace says. “It was brutal.”

While Monét says it typically takes her “about 2.5 hours to do glam,” she was surprised to find that it “takes the Housewives longer.”
“I’m putting 3 lbs. of Sherwin-Williams shellac on my face,” she says. “I was like, ‘This is crazy.'”
Tara adds that the players would have to get camera-ready quickly after missions.
“What’s insane is we would go do these challenges in the rain, on a loch and then come back to the castle and [producers] would say, ‘Okay, you have three minutes, put your dress back on,'” she says.

Monét says “missions were hardcore” this season.
“I feel like [host] Alan [Cumming] amped it up for us,” she says. “I think people think that with celebs going in, they’re like, ‘Oh, they’re going to give them the princess treatment.’ No, we’re doing this s— for real.”
The first three episodes of The Traitors are streaming on Peacock now. New episodes air every Thursday.
