The Friday Tailgate: A New Hope

Maestro, roll away the tailgate music of you please:

This is the Friday Tailgate, the place where we would normally congregate pensively and fret about Georgia’s upcoming college football game starting sometime tomorrow. Except of course there is no Georgia Bulldog game tomorrow, which means that we’re going to have to either fret pensively about someone else’s game, or find something entirely different to do.

I personally am choosing the latter. It’s interesting how our perspective on the Red and Black can change on a dime. This time last week if I had taken a straw pole a significant percentage of UGA fans would have been expecting the Volunteers to emerge victorious from Neyland Stadium last Saturday. Instead, Georgia showed that it can score some points, take a punch and punch back, and everybody walked out with their original knees and no need to visit an orthopedist. That’s about as good as it gets along the banks of the Tennessee River.

So my question for you is this: in the spirit of new hope, what is the thing (player, position group, scheme, whatever) that you’ve seen this season that gives you the greatest hope about the state of things in Athens?

As I hinted last night in the Cocktail Thursday post, I’m pretty excited that Georgia may be a team with an actual deep, dangerous receiving corps. The kind where you can’t key on one or two receivers, and that can rotate fresh playmakers throughout a game and season. It’s been awhile since we could reliably say that, and I find it quite stimulating.

Drop your selections in the comments. And…

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
