Week 8 of the 2025 NFL season rolls on and the action will continue with an NFC South showdown featuring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visiting the New Orleans Saints at 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Buccaneers had their worst offensive output of the season so far this past Monday, falling on the road at the Lions in a 24-9 loss. Wide receiver Tez Johnson ended up playing a big role in the offense and we might as well get used to seeing his face plenty of times moving forward.

Below, we’ll go over Johnson’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 8.

Fantasy Football analysis: Buccaneers WR Tez Johnson

Johnson ended up catching four of nine targets for 45 yards and the team’s only touchdown in Monday’s loss to the Lions. It was the second straight game with a TD for the seventh-round rookie out of Oregon and we’re starting to see him pop up out of sheer necessary. The Bucs’ offense has been decimated by injuries to Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Bucky Irving over the past month, so they’ve needed options like Johnson to step up and he’s been doing just that.

Johnson has been on the field for at least 68% of the offensive snaps in each of the last two weeks and with Evans suffering a broken clavicle on Monday that will leave him out until December, we can expect to see similar usage moving forward.

Start. Johnson’s snap count and target rates over the last two weeks are a good sign that the team trusts him to pick up where the injured veterans left off and he has a chance to shine opposite fellow rookie breakout Emeka Egbuka. It would not surprise me to see him find the end zone yet again this afternoon and in a week where you’re probable pressed for options with all the byes, I think he’d be worthy of a Flex spot.
