Tetairoa McMillan injury: What status means for Week 10 vs. Saints

The Carolina Panthers are coming off a big win over the Green Bay Packers last week to elevate them to a 5-4 record. They now head back home to host the 1-8 New Orleans Saints as 5.5-point favorites. They are in a great spot to move to 6-4 on the season, but they could be without their No. 1 receiver, Tetairoa McMillan.

Tetairoa McMillan injury updates

McMillan apparently tweaked his hamstring in Friday’s practice and has been listed as questionable for their matchup with the Saints. This is of course bad news, as you never want a late week injury of any kind heading into a game. Unless this is a phantom hamstring injury, his odds of playing aren’t great.

Fantasy football analysis

If McMillan can play, my guess is that the rookie was being extra cautious about what he was feeling in his hamstring and subsequent tests showed no real concern. That is of course the best case scenario and McMillan would be worthy of a fantasy start.

If McMillan can’t play, there really are no other receivers who would see predictable concentrated targets in his absence. Xavier Legette would be next in line, but even with a strong fantasy game on his resume this season, I have little faith in his ability to repeat his Week 7 outing against the Jets.

The Panthers will likely try to repeat their success in Green Bay, as they’ll try to get Rico Dowdle going on the ground, while hoping to stop Tyler Shough and the poor Saints offense. And they’ll do that whether McMillan is available or not.
