Through each full week of sports in the school year, we’ll recognize the Teams of the Week, brought to you by Cofield Outdoors!
Football – Dawson County Tigers
Dawson County was demoralized after losing to White County in Week Nine. So the Tigers, true to form under coach Jaybo Shaw, responded with a statement – a blowout 42-14 win over Chestatee to stave off playoff elimination. Dawson has a chance to use this as fuel with a date against rivals Lumpkin next week.

Softball – Lumpkin County Lady Indians
Lumpkin County swept past their opening round opponents, Riverdale with twin 15-0 scores. That was the most dominant first round in the Lady Indians’ history, and the region champs are now set to host SE Bulloch in the second round in Dahlonega.

Volleyball – Franklin County Lady Lions
The Lady Lions reached the Elite 8, winning both their opening match 3-1 over East Jackson and their Sweet 16 match against Pierce County, 3-0.

Boys XC – Jefferson Dragons
Coming in 16th place at the Coach Wood Invitational is pretty impressive considering how many teams and runners were present. Finn Wakeman again led the Dragons, coming in 9th. William Malueg was 24th for Jefferson.

Girls XC – Tallulah Falls Lady Indians
The Lady Indians won their first-ever region championship, with three runners placing in the top-5. That’s unreal. Olivia Henderson was Region RU, with Avery Keim at 3rd and Naomi Russo at 5th.
