A Sugar Hill man faces multiple charges after he reportedly banged on the door of a Hall County home with a rifle over the weekend.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said an initial investigation revealed that Yo Han Choi, 36, yelled and banged on the front door of the victims’ home several times with the buttstock of a rifle and then left in his car.
The incident happened in the 1000 block of Cooley Drive between 2 and 3 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26. The victims reportedly knew Choi prior to the incident. The suspect also caused less than $500 damage to the door, HCSO said.
Deputies responded to the home and spoke with the occupants, two women, 37 and 23, and a man, 52, and issued a law enforcement BOLO (be on the lookout) for Choi and his car.
Later, Flowery Branch Police Officers located Choi traveling south on Interstate 985. They stopped his vehicle near Exit 8 (GA 347/Lanier Islands Parkway).
HCSO deputies arrived and arrested Choi at roughly 3:45 a.m. They confiscated the rifle and a handgun from Choi.
Choi faces the following charges:
- Criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault under the Family Violence Act (felony)
- Criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault (felony) – two counts
- Possession of a firearm during commission of a crime (felony)
- Criminal trespass (misdemeanor)
Deputies transported Choi to the Hall County Jail. He posted a $10,900 bond and was released from jail on Tuesday morning, Oct. 28.
