The final slots in the Georgia High School Association football playoffs were officially penciled in on Sunday, as the GHSA completed the Postseason Rankings (PSR) after a wild finale around the state last week.

Class 4A and up were set after Thursday and Friday’s action, but Class 3A and below had to wait until the PSR calculations were finalized over the weekend. The GHSA released the final brackets around 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The GHSA playoffs are set to begin Nov. 14 at the site of the higher seed team.

In our coverage area for AccessWDUN and Friday Game Night, 12 teams moved on to the GHSA playoffs, five capturing region titles. Buford (Region 8-6A) and Jackson County (Region 8-5A), Jefferson ((Region 8-3A), and North Hall (Region 6-3A) all won their regions.

Buford (10-0) and Jackson County (9-1) are guaranteed home playoff games for at least the first two rounds. In the AccessWDUN and Friday Game Night composite poll, Buford has been No. 2 for most of the season behind Grayson. Jackson County never cracked the top 10 but earned the program’s first-ever region title and established a new program-record for wins in a season.

For the second consecutive season, Jefferson (9-1) will take the overall No. 1 seed into the Class 3A playoffs. North Hall (10-0) will be the No. 2 overall seed. Both will be at home in every round until the finals.

In Class 4A, Flowery Branch (7-3) garnered the No. 2 seed out of Region 8-4A with its win over Cedar Shoals coupled with East Forsyth’s (6-4) win over Madison County last week. The Broncos victory gave them the No. 4 seed.

In Class 3A, Cherokee Bluff (6-4) and Lumpkin County (6-4) both got into the playoffs as at-large teams. The Bears are seeded 21st and the Indians 27th.

In Class 2A, East Jackson (5-5) got in as the 26th seed and Rabun County in Class A Division 1 is the 15th seed.

The GAPPS 11-man also has set its playoff brackets, with Lanier Christian, the defending GAPPS 11-man state champion, taking the No. 1 seed.

The GAPPS will open its playoffs this week and hold its championship game on Nov. 21 at Northgate High School in Newnan.

Lakeview Academy lost in the first round of the GIAA playoffs last week, 27-21, to Piedmont Academy.
