*This year’s state legislative session was gaveled to order Monday with a focus on election-year politics and budget discussions. Because it’s an election year, experts predict that it could be more “performative” than “productive.” Political Analyst Bill Crane speaking with WSAV. Rural health care and education funding are key issues, as are income and property tax relief, and gaming expansions. Governor Brian Kemp’s final year in office may influence legislative priorities and upcoming Senate races.   

*Georgia has its first measles case of 2026 – an infant on the state’s coast. The baby, who is too young to receive routine measles vaccinations, caught the virus while traveling internationally. Las year, there were 10 confirmed cases in the state.
