Now that Spring has officially “sprung,” let’s look at the outlook for the new season for our area and the rest of the Southeast from the government people who try to predict these things. In brief: warmer and wetter but not enough moisture to pull us out of the drought.
From April well into summer, it will be warmer than usual, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center and the National Weather Service’s Central Region Climate Outlook, continuing the spring-summer pattern for the past several years.
About precipitation: There are even chances of rain in April, but the chances increase well into August. Be that as it may, the drought, which has had a firm hold on all of Georgia for some time now, is also expected to persist, at this point, through all of spring and into summer.
We’ll get into the summer outlook in depth toward the end of spring.
