Most counties in Northeast Georgia had some form of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax votes happening during the municipal elections Tuesday night, and nearly all were passed by voters.

SPLOST votes passed in Hall, Forsyth, Habersham, White, Banks and Stephens counties. Votes were also trending yes to SPLOST votes in Gwinnett and Jackson counties as of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night, with most votes tallied in those counties.

Also, Floating Local Option Sales Tax votes passed in Banks and White counties, with a Transportation SPLOST passing in Rabun County.

The only such vote to not succeed Tuesday night was a FLOST vote in Union County, which voters there rejected by a 55.85% to 44.15% margin.

All of the taxes are one penny on every sales dollar in the county to fund special capital projects. Transportation SPLOST’s are geared towards road projects.

Hall County’s SPLOST has been in place since 1985, but only runs in seven-year increments. The SPLOST approved by voters there this November is SPLOST IX.
