The 2nd round of the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) softball playoffs will continue on Wednesday, with Classes 3A, 2A, and Class A Division 1 opening their best-of-three series around the state.
Class 3A No. 1 seed Jefferson will lead seven teams into the fray as they all look for quarterfinals berths and a trip to the Elite 8 tournament at the Olympic Softball Complex in Columbus next week
Five northeast Georgia area teams, including the Lady Dragons, will try to advance in Class 3A. No. 5 seed Lumpkin County and 10th-seeded North Hall will be at home. No. 11 seed Cherokee Bluff, the 3A state runner-up in 2024, and 18th seed Dawson County will be on the road.
In Class 2A, Union County, the No. 15 seed, will be on the road and Banks County, who finished fourth in Class A D1 in 2024, is also on the road as the No. 10 seed in Class A D1 this season.
On Monday, Buford in Class 6A and Jackson County in Class 5A both advanced to the Elite 8 tournament in Columbus with second round sweeps. North Forsyth, however, was swept out in the second round by North Paulding in Class 6A.
