Not one, but two separate water main issues on opposite sides of downtown Cleveland in White County kept the city’s public works departments busy Thursday.

Within hours of each other, water main breaks forced Cleveland officials to advise many businesses and some residents of a boil water advisory heading into Thursday evening.

The first, six-inch main break report came during the late afternoon along the area near 116 North Helen Highway (on the back side of the property across from 94 Old Nacoochee Road). The following areas have been affected by the water concerns:

  • 752 Helen Hwy – Crompton Dentistry
  • 84 Helen Hwy – Church
  • 116 Helen Hwy – Post Office
  • 300 N Main Street – M-Star
  • 278 N Main Street – Cowart
  • 258 N Main Street – Express Mart
  • 16 Old Nacoochee Rd – Creekside Deli
  • 94 Old Nacoochee Rd – Residential Home
  • 301 N Main Street – Circle K

The second main break, located on Highway 129 South late Thursday night,  has resulted in a boil water advisory for the following commercial addresses:

     • Foothills Car Wash – 1083 Hwy 129 South
     • Little Caesars Pizza – 1121 Hwy 129 South
City of Cleveland officials said in social media posts advises their business owners and nearby residents affected to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, or food preparation until further notice. No time table on completion of the repairs has been given by city officials as of last publication.
