Samira Wiley and Jin Ha Join Ayo Edebiri and Don Cheadle in Broadway Revival of “Proof” (Exclusive)

Casting is complete for the first-ever Broadway revival of Proof.

PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that Emmy winner Samira Wiley and Grammy nominee Jin Ha are joining Ayo Edebiri and Don Cheadle in the new production of the Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning play by David Auburn.

Directed by Tony winner Thomas Kail (Hamilton), the strictly limited 16-week engagement will play the Booth Theatre beginning March 31, 2026, ahead of an official opening night on April 16.

This marks Wiley’s long-awaited Broadway debut. A Juilliard graduate, the actress recently returned to the London stage in the Donmar Warehouse’s production of Lynn Nottage’s Intimate Apparel after appearing in the National Theatre’s Blues for an Alabama Sky. Off-Broadway, she starred in the 2016 Signature Theatre production of Daphne’s Dive.

On television, Wiley is best known for her Emmy-winning turn as Moira in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale and her beloved breakout role as Poussey Washington in Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black, which won her two SAG Awards for Best Ensemble.

Ha, who first appeared on the boards in Julie Taymor’s 2017 revival of M. Butterfly, reunites with Kail after playing Aaron Burr in Hamilton’s Broadway and Chicago companies. He was also part of NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, nabbing a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album, and recently earned acclaim for his performance in the world premiere of Stephen Sondheim’s final musical Here We Are at The Shed.

Currently, Ha stars as Solomon in Apple TV+’s Pachinko.

Edebiri — the Emmy-, SAG-, and Golden Globe-winning star of The Bear — and Cheadle, the Oscar nominee and 11-time Emmy nominee, were announced in August to lead the production.

A play about family, genius and the blurred lines between brilliance and instability, Proof was an immediate hit when it first premiered Off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club in May 2000. It transferred to Broadway in October of that year, and ran at the Walter Kerr Theatre through January 2003.

Original stars Mary-Louise Parker and Larry Bryggman both earned Tony nominations for their performances, as did featured actors Ben Shenkman and Johanna Day. The play wound up winning three Tonys: Best Play, Best Actress for Parker, and Best Direction for David Sullivan.

The accolades continued later that year, when Proof was awarded the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

In 2005, a feature film adaptation starring Gwyneth PaltrowAnthony Hopkins and Jake Gyllenhaal was released.
