Russell Eugene Smith, age 76, of Westminster, South Carolina, husband of Patricia “Patsy” Diane Dockins Smith, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at Prisma Oconee Memorial Hospital.
Born in Stephens County, Georgia, Russell was the son of the late E.D. Smith and Winnie Virginia Dean Smith. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent his career as a logger. Russell proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. Above all, he cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Corey Smith and his wife, Danielle, of Westminster, and Katie Smith Cox and her husband, Andrew, of Westminster; his siblings, James Smith of Westminster, Virginia Jones of Toccoa, Georgia, and Opal Krauel of Maryland; and his four grandchildren, Kayla Smith, Colten Smith, Zachary Smith, and Dylan Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Smith, Vic Smith, Guy Smith, Greg Smith, Steve Smith, Rodney Smith, Joyce Smith, and Carol O’Kelley.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2026, in the Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
